It's not the means of control, but the reasoning behind it that was under debate. My debating partner argued that the jobs that illegals do in America are mostly jobs that Americans won't do anyway, hence they don't really create unemployment. She then argued, and here I agreed, that in any case, sooner or later America is headed for an EU type economic and border union. But I totally lost the argument for a wall... I just ran out of ammo, plus she was cute and agreeing with women gets you places

I keep hearing that the illegals are doing jobs that the Americans will not. That is not true. What it really is the illegals are doing jobs for less than Americans will, that is a big difference. They are working at below minimum wage, and they are costing the taxpayers big time. That will implode, as socialism, which is what their activities are leading us to.

I don't think Americans will go for an EU arrangement. We are far too independant to go that route.

It irritates me that people hire illegals. They do it because they can treat them however they want (the illegals won't go to the police!) And- what really ticks me off, is that they pay NO TAXES. And, often times get benefits somehow. Actually, there is a long list of reasons why illegals irritate me. I'll spare you all, since I'd probably be preaching to the choir anyway.
And how about the governator cutting social programs for California children, but wanting to put money into programs for ILLEGALS???!!

CL took up a lot of my time. I just find I don't have quite the same amount of time to devote here. With some time I would think that this could be just as good as CL was. At least some of the old timers from CL are here... that is a real plus in my book.

Yep, it's a slam. I got sick and tired of offending the delicate sensibilities of a bunch of cunts from the far north who were commenting in ignorance on US policy. The original CL was my first political site I so enjoyed it ! It shut down like 4 months later , I have been to several sites since and believe it or not I still long for the debate and smarts of the old CL gang, I'VE been trying to revive this place come on everyone join in!!!
