Here it is, the place for introductions. Most of you know me already but I'll give a little summary anywho.

Born and raised in ex-USSR, moved to the US age 6, lived in Minnesota for half a year then next to DC for 9 years. Living in Geneva area (Switzerland) since summer 06'. Middle of the road political views, some conservative views, some liberal, more left than right but not true lib.

I am the Old Goat. A conservative in the Syracuse NY area working in a liberal environment. I have lived most of my life in NY state, from Staten Island to Syracuse. I am a Boy Scout, and I use the Oath and the Law as my guiding principle.

OTOH, I agree totally with the Scout motto, Oath and values. My kid keeps wandering away from scouts, fortunately into things of value like football, competitive shotgun shooting and now boxing . . . but he remains a Scout.

I wish we had more men like you in our Council and more importantly at the Troop level.

As to your son, let him explore all the possibles he can. I know it can be frustrating for you, but Scouts can be there for the "off" times. If your current troop gives a hard time about that, then find one that understands that boys can have many interests.
