F-22 Program Canceled

Post by Clubtender on Tue Apr 07, 2009 11:42 pm

The F-22 program has officially been canceled after the last four on the line are completed. Our Air Force's aging F-15 airframe is past the end of it's service life and replacements are not coming from the F-22. The F-16 is approaching the end of it's service life and the F-35 is 8 years late with only one prototype in testing.

The only US fighter aircraft that is currently in production is the US Navy's F/A-18E&F. The "Super Bug" is not ideal for US Air Force use. It is however the only fighter aircraft available. It may be time for the USAF to put in an order for some Super Hornets in an effort to remain a viable fighting force.
